Which Winch Will Fit My ECB Bullbar?

We're asked all the time which winch will fit my ECB. The ECB Winch Bullbar is usually designed to accommodate up to a 10,500lb low mount winch for most general applications, including offroad and light commercial vehicles.

Larger American vehicles and trucks have a Winch Bullbar designed around a 16,000lb winch depending on the vehicle, and some smaller vehicles are less. Specific limitations for specific ECB products can be found on individual product listings on our portal.

Our R&D department uses a Warn winch bolt pattern for our mounting due to the standardisation of most winches on the market. All ECB winch mounts will accommodate most Roller fairleads & Hawse fairleads and the ECB Winch Bullbar can accommodate most brands of low mount planetary gear winches or the Warn Zeon or Warn Evo series with the control box relocation kit. *

Warn Standard Winch Pattern

When choosing a winch, it’s recommended to have a weight rating 1.5 to 2.0 times greater than the fully loaded capacity of your vehicle. This allows for a safe Working Load Limit (WLL) to ensure your winch can safely pull your vehicle out of most situations and doesn’t consume more power than your vehicle's electrical system can provide.

Options To Look For When Choosing A Winch

  • The use of a synthetic winch line can lighten the combined weight of your winch and is generally safer than the older steel cables.
  • Carrying a snatch block can double the pulling power of your winch for winch weight ratings closer to the GVM of your vehicle, or long pulls where there are only spools of line wrapped around the drum.
  • A Basic Winch Kit - A tree saver strap, several screw pin bow shackles (minimum of 3 ¾ T WLL), leather gloves, and a winch damper is all you need to handle most basic winch pulls.

*Weight ratings given are for winch mount strength and not a determining factor for the size of the winch due to variations in housing sizes.

** Some smaller vehicles, such as the Suzuki Jimny are designed around the WARN Tabor 10,000lb winch due to the vehicle's smaller size.
