Testing That Goes Into Designing an ECB Bullbar

When it comes to designing new ECB Frontal Protection Products safety is our top priority. That's why our engineers & product development team put all new bars through rigorous testing to ensure our products provide maximum protection while having minimal impact on vehicle functionality.

At ECB we pride ourselves on developing our products right here in Australia, giving us a direct connection between the research and development that goes in to designing our products; and the manufacturing team delivering the finished product.  Modern ECB products are developed and tested utilising;

  • 3D Scan Data
  • CAD Design Tools
  • FEA Testing
  • Safety Tech Integration Testing
  • Pendulum Crash Testing
  • Real World Vibration Logging

3D Scan Data

When a new vehicle is received by the ECB Research & Development team, 3D Scan tools are used to capture exact vehicle measurements. This data is used to create a model that is then used to start designing the range of Bullbars and Nudge Bars.

CAD Design & FEA Testing

Our engineering team employs advanced CAD (Computer-Aided Design) software to create detailed 3D models of new prototypes and refine existing designs. This precise modelling allows us to simulate the functionality of our bars and explore improvements before moving to production.

Next, Finite Element Analysis (FEA) software is used to assess the strength, durability, and performance of our designs under simulated stress conditions. With FEA, we can confidently create products that are built to withstand Australian off-road conditions.

Pendulum Crash Testing

After the digital testing is completed a prototype bar is made for a Pendulum crash test. This test captures impact data to ensure our bars meet the relevant ADR regulations for airbag deployment on vehicles.

Safety Tech Integration Testing

Most modern vehicles now feature additional safety features such as radar and parking sensors. We design and test all of our range of Frontal Protection Products to be compatible with vehicle specific features to ensure there is no compromise on safety.

Vehicle Test Fitments

The last stage in our engineering process is to do a test fitment on a vehicle to ensure everything is working as intended. This allows us to confirm there are no obstructions to safety features, cameras and operation of radar systems.

Real World Vibration Logging & Testing

Our testing is not confined to the walls of the lab with our products & engineers putting the bars through their paces as part of the Cruisemaster R.A.T Run. This real-world testing environment allows us to capture real world data to improve our testing processes for the harsh conditions of the Australian Outback.
